DJs impressions of a night on air

Our labels DJ Robb performed last week eight hours at the Frei House Disco Night #5 »Night Tracks« – presented by the radioshow frei². In this blog post he gives some impressions of a night on air:

First of all I want to guide your attention to some rather short, but very nice videos I took while celebrating this night. Although this link is in german, I hope you can figure out the videos and their sources. If in trouble, please do not hesitate asking here. The reactions on this videos and the whole radioshow are incredible. But today I want to show some pictures I took:

: This picture shows the station Freies Radio Kassel just before the Frei House Disco Night starts. The neon tube displays the stations acronym »FRK«. Seconds later I filmed the studio tour mentioned above.

: View from the radiostation, which is located at the Salzmann Factory, to the sundown over Kassels city. The concise towers belong to the Martins Kirche.

: This is the same view, but at dark night (5:20, right before sunrise).

: On my way home after having performed eight hours on air, I had a last eye on the Salzmann Factory.

Our DJ Robb performed at the fourth "frei House Disco Nacht" of the german radiostation frei². The recordings of his two dj-sets are now available for download. He sent us a House Mix and a short Deep House Mix. But the other program of this night is also worth listening.

Our DJ Robb performs two live dates at the students club K19 in Kassel, Germany within the next weeks:

In the night before the May day there is a barbecue party with disco tunes. The BBQ starts at 6 pm, Robb starts at about 8 pm.
On May, 5th there is a concert of the Rock'n'Roll band The Dots from Dresden. Afterwards Robb plays music from his radio show frei².

Here we officially announce the first release of FRee-K Sounds! It is DJ Sound FReeK vs. Ixtlan – Very Easy is Wrong Remixes, based on Ixtlan's Very Easy is Wrong.

The label-ID is FReeKS001 and the files are released under the terms of a Creative Commons License. More information could be found at the releases page and for the podcast below we chose the Radio version of DJ Sound FReeK's mixes, Very Easy is Wrong (More Radio is Wrong).

Since its launch in September 2008 FRee-K Sounds uses the Internet Archive (also called Archive.org) for storing and publishing the releases. The website offers netlabels a convenient way for releasing their media so we chose it; the decision was also based on experiences Robert made with his radio show.

Now the collection page over there got an own logo, that we present here:

This logo was created with Inkscape using a set of fonts that were invented specially for FRee-K Sounds. You may use the above logo under the terms of the Creative Commons license Attribution Non-Commercial Share-Alike.

OK, there is really some time gone when we first worked around this news blog for FRee-K Sounds and already nobody noticed it, because we didn't tell anybody about it ;-) But today should be the day that we open this new section on the FRee-K Sounds website: Here is now the FRee-K Sounds News blog! It is powered by Jlog 1.1.2 using some very nice plugins as mentioned in the article before.

Although we all speak german, too, we write this blog in english to reach a larger audience of music FRee-Ks around the globe. We hope that is no problem for you, if in doubt, shout ;-) And now we wish you a lot of fun with FRee-K Sounds, its new News section and don't forget to subscribe to our RSS feeds!

FRee-K Sounds is still under construction and here is the next building block: A News section, powered by the simple but powerfull Opensource Blog software Jlog. From now on don't miss any information about the label, just read (and track the RSS feed).

This news section is based on the brand new Jlog 1.1.1 blog software, extended by some very useful plugins:

CommendFeed for generating a rss feed of the comments
SemanticBBCode offers you a lot more commands to style your comments
CommentModeration is sadly necessary
Jlogcast for a podcast of new releases
